Colonial Life
We are researching about life in the early American Colonies. Below is a link to a mind map comparing the differences between the New England, Middle, and Southern Colonies. With your partner fill out your work sheet, don't forget to follow the links on the page to gather more information.
Also, this is an example of what you will be creating as part of your final research project; so keep it in mind. Students will follow along with the mind and then research further for more information.

5th Grade Social Studies Standard 1: Students will understand how the exploration and colonization of North America transformed human history. Objective 1: Compare the geographic and cultural differences between the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies (e.g., religious, economic, political).

Street Signs and Symbols
Have you seen all the signs on the road as you ride in the car or walk to school? Do you know what they mean? The activity below will help you understand what some of the various signs and symbols mean. With your buddy, click on each sign and write down on your work sheet what you do when you see that sign. If you have a questions, please ask!

As students complete this activity they will be able to explain what the various street signs mean and identify which sign is which.

Rights and Responsibilities of Citizens
We have been learning about the US Constitution. Now we are going to learn about our rights and responsibilities as citizens. With your partner, click on the link below, and follow along with the presentation. If you have questions, please ask, I am here to help!

This presentation will help students define what an amendment is, explain the Bill of Rights and identify the first ten amendments, as well as other rights as citizens. Lastly as a partners and a class we will discuss and identify our duties and responsibilities. Students will then reflect on what they have learned.
